Infosets were held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, July 20-22; in Freetown, Sierra Leone, August 22-24; and in Accra, Ghana, August 24-26. All these Infosetters have made a bold move in exercising their personal sovereignty as world citizens, and we commend their dedication to creating a democratic world constitution.
Below you will find the Statements of Importance generated by the participants of the Infoset in Accra, Ghana. (We are still awaiting the materials from Bangladesh and Sierra Leone.)
The Regional World Syntegrity Project, Ghana, held a three-day Infoset August 24-26, organized by Rev. Dennis W. Tarweh.
Although the number of participants was not what had been expected, the small
group was happy to work under the world citizen flag. In the course of the
Infoset, which was devoted to the topic, "How Can We, As Sovereign World
Citizens, Govern Our World?", many suggestions were offered for inclusion in the
compiled Statements of Importance, which are provided below:
Global Needs
Respect for human rights all over the world is important; thus, there is a need to form a special committee which will safeguard these rights.
Religion
There is a need to consider individuals' wisdom. Everyone should know something about every religion so that, as a world citizen. she or he will not be frustrated when hearing something concerning an other's religion.
Education
Education is the best investment anyone in the world will ever make; thus, in order to provide a good education and help people to develop their self-image and become well-qualified, resources have to be allocated to make education free for all people in the world.
Military
It is a fact that weapons are killing materials. So there is a need to stop nuclear weapons testing as well the manufacture of all other arms. Resources conserved in this way should be allocated to fields such as agriculture.
It is also obvious that every state should gradually convert its army into a national police, while an international armed forces should be founded to defend the whole world. It will then become necessary to create an International Military Academy to train world citizen-soldiers.
Health
Free health care for everybody is urgently needed. Cigarette-type drugs like marijuana should be banned.
The Infoset also noted that, while the United Nations is a grouping of all the world's states, it has not protected human rights.
In conclusion, we thought that international understanding on a cultural basis should be encouraged, with particular attention paid to interpersonal communication.
