Internet Saves the World

(The following report is taken from War & Peace Digest, Oct./Nov. 1996.)

As we go to press, the Canberra Commission report is being presented to the world's governments and is about to be heard by the United Nations General Assembly. If you want to see the report today, however, you can access it, in its entirety, on the Internet. You can also access the World Court opinion in this way. Both documents are available at the War & Peace web site: http://www.interport...net/~warpeace. They can also be found at another new web site set up for Abolition 2000, a rapidly growing global network of more than 600 citizen organizations involved in efforts to have a treaty in place by the end of the century to eliminate nuclear weapons.

The complete proceedings of the World Court hearings--together with the formal opinion, dissenting opinions and commentary by the individual judges--are available at the Abolition 2000 web site. This site is sure to become the meeting place for a global network for nuclear disarmament activities including political pressure and boycotts. The URL for Abolition 2000 is: http://web.inter,NL.net/hcc/A.Malten/start.html.
