To the Good Citizens of Taiwan:

We greet you in the name of the citizens of the world. You are facing today a historic dilemma known almost since the beginning of time: freedom to determine your own destiny despite outside hostility.

While your cause is just, our modern times are critically unique. Our world during the past 100 years has collapsed in upon itself. Due to technology and communications, time and distance have virtually disappeared. The world community is just that, a community. Some realists have termed it "a global village." In your new-found technical and industrial prowess, in your island environment, linked intimately and dynamically to the world's water, in your desire to determine your own destiny linked with that of your world, you demonstrate daily that living reality.

Moreover, in your present democratic action to elect a president for the first time in Taiwan's turbulent history, you earn the support and encouragement of your fellow brothers and sisters throughout our community. Indeed, in giving voice to the people's will as the basis of the authority of government, you join with your fellow democrats everywhere. It is in this spirit, therefore, that we share both your dilemma and your noble mission.

As a declared World Citizen for almost 48 years, founder of the World Government of World Citizens and the World Service Authority, our government's executive and administrative organ, and fully aware of the plight facing you today, I have accepted a generous invitation from your fellow citizens to meet with you in Taiwan to bear witness to your struggle for self-determination allied with your interdependence with our common global community.

Therefore, I look forward to visiting your country soon in person and, in the meantime, bring you warm fraternal greetings from your fellow world citizens at home on planet Earth.
