MAN - ENVIRONMENT - Green - BOGOTA, COLOMBIA

We need to rescue the harmonic relationship with mother earth. Man has the right to exploit, create and modify nature as long as has he does not create permanent damage to the ecosystem.

The nonrenewable resources are mankind's heritage and those who exploit them must compensate society and nature for any such exploitation.

Urban development must be planned to conciliate the relationship between man and nature.

Technological development is desirable, if used responsibly and benevolently.

Education must embody knowledge and attitudes to give grounds thereto.

"ECOSYSTEM" - Green - BURLINGTON, VERMONT

All species have an inherent right to a whole and stable ecosystem. Recognizing humans as having a propensity for violence within this living system, we must work in a truly loving relationship with our planet. We must be accountable for and protect the biodiversity of our planet.

We will develop a universal declaration of ecological rights, which includes:

We recognize our intimate relationship with nature and our responsibility to live in harmony with the earth and everything on it.

GLOBAL WARMING - Orange - LIVERPOOL, U.K.

Given sufficient information the consumer has immense capacity to achieve change, but encouragement of this perception is essential. The individual is responsible for the difference their action makes.

ACTION AND IMPLEMENTATION

ENVIRONMENT - NEW HARTFORD, NEW YORK

In order to understand other cultures, institute a system of domicile exchange with a family in another culture. We should encourage as much cultural exchange as possible to end discrimination, racism, and misunderstanding. We should work towards becoming Citizens of the world.

We should have respect for the rights of animals and all life on earth. Although we have a right to have food to eat as human beings, the reverence for life means we must not kill unnecessarily. Hunting for food is all right, but not for the pleasure of the kill.

Fossil fuels should be eliminated for transportation and mass transit should be developed worldwide.

We must balance environmental and economic interests in order to keep from depleting world resources. Harmony and selflessness should be our guide to preserving the environment and natural resources for the good and the use of all.

We must achieve zero population growth to maintain the environment and not deplete the planet of our resources.

It is essential that water, air, and other basic resources should be free and clean for life on Earth to survive.

MANKIND'S POTENTIAL. - Purple - SWANSEA, WALES

We recognize that we are out of alignment with natural systems (even if they are occasionally life threatening). We think that the western world should set an example of sustainable practices, as opposed to imposing change on the third world. They must also provide the funding to carry it out.

The shift to more environmentally conscious products is happening but many people are still buying non-recycled/ non-recyclable products. We need to promote more awareness of the consequences of our increasing misalignment with nature. This awareness would allow us to "vote" with our money and only buy those products that are in balance, morally and environmentally correct. This balance would require representation of the local producers and communities on a global scale. Consumer pressure of this kind will eventually influence manufacturers and redefine the terms of trade.

ENVIRONMENT - Orange - SWANSEA UNIVERSITY

We have realized the reluctance of individuals to do something better for the environment. But solving the world's environmental problems needs to start from individuals and communities. They must realize the immediate threat through education.
